बहुत वर्ष बीत गए
पर न आई हम से मिलने बारिश,
पत्ते मेरे झर गए थे,
और प्यास बुझी थी मेरे आंसू से।

दिन-रात उसका नाम पुकारा,
बादलों को किया इशारा,
लेकिन, न आए वह ईस और
रह गई मैं अकेली, दुःख के जाल में फंसी।

बहुत वर्ष बीत गए थे,
और न आई थी वर्षा
पर न भूली थी मैं बारिश के पानी का स्वाद
ईस मित्र के संग बिताए पल, मुझे थे याद।

जब भी मेघ गरजते,
मेरे हृदय में खिलती एक मुस्कान।
जब भी बूँदें बरसती,
था वह मेरे लिए एक गान।

जब भी एक बूँद मेरे पत्तो पर गिरती,
लगता था जैसे वह मुझे चूम रहीं,
जब भी धरती को वह छूती,
लगता था वह हंस रही।
